Istanbul International Environment Summit, this year under the theme "Transformation for Livable Environment", organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has started today at the Avrasya Show and Art Center in Istanbul. Mehmet Duman, UCLG-MEWA Secretary-General participated in the opening ceremony. UCLG-MEWA is also represented at the summit with a stand displaying publications and information about the latest activities.
Within the scope of the summit; environmental action plan, waste recovery, waste energy generation, global climate change, environmental visions of governments and cities, conservation of biodiversity, sea surface, coastal and beach cleaning, environmentally friendly solutions, and future perspectives will be focused on.
The summit, which will continue until the 8th of December 2018, is expected to be an important platform for public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, industrialists, urban planners, academicians, students, and related sector representatives.
