Distinguished Members;
UCLG-MEWA Congress was held on 9-10 July 2019 under the auspices of Greater Amman Municipality. In addition to the governing bodies of the Organization for the 2019-2022 Period, Presidencies of the UCLG-MEWA Committees were determined as well.
Until the aforementioned date, Committees were operating under 9 headings. At the UCLG-MEWA Executive Bureau and Council Joint Meeting held under the auspices of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality in 2018, a recommendation was taken to merge certain committees. At the UCLG-MEWA Congress held in Amman on 9-10 July 2019, the recommendation taken in Şanlıurfa for the merge of the Committees was approved and finalized. Within this context; Committee on Smart Cities and Committee on Urban Mobility was renamed as “Committee on Smarts Cities and Urban Mobility”, Committee on Development Cooperation and Committee on City Diplomacy was renamed as “Committee on City Diplomacy and Local Governance”, Committee on Culture and Committee on Tourism was renamed as “Committee on Culture and Tourism”. The Committees on Environment, Social Inclusion and Gender Equality will continue to operate under their current names. In line with the decision taken at the Congress, the following members were elected to the Committee Presidencies:
