In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO Executive Board, held in Paris, marked 18 December as the International Migrants Day. 18 December was declared as a remarkable day to accord the rights of migrants and raise awareness on the difficulties that they live through all around the world.
As signatories of the protocol for running awareness-raising campaigns on international days; United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), Union of City Councils of Turkey, City Councils of Turkey Platform, kindly invite their members to participate in the joint action campaigns.
In this framework, the hashtag to be used on social media platforms during this 18 December International Migrants Day campaign will be #GörDuyFarket. Besides, the #YerelinÇağı ve #SKH16 hashtags, which were also used in our previous campaign may be used. The hashtag campaign on Twitter will start on 17 December 2016 at 8 PM (TRT) and last on 18 December 2016 at 10 PM (TRT). It is highly important that more posts are sent during 8 PM-10 PM on 18 December in particular, so that the campaign will have more impact.
We kindly ask you to send news and photographs of the activities performed by local authorities and City Councils, within the framework of the Internatioanl Migrants Day, to UCLG-MEWA, via uclg-mewa@uclg-mewa.org.
